An Intertek employee talks to school children.

In countries like Suriname, where the indigenous population represents a small minority, it is important to champion initiatives which give people insights into opportunities extending beyond their communities.

Therefore, as part of our commitment to education and socioeconomic development, our Intertek Suriname N.V. team travelled from Paramaribo, the country’s capital, for a career day at a school in the indigenous village of Powakka. Hosted in partnership with local companies, the career day welcomed around 500 children, ranging from the ages of nine to 17.

At a specially designed booth, our team talked about our Intertek Caleb Brett business and showcased some of the products that are analysed at our laboratory in Paramaribo. Our colleagues also shared valuable insights into the studies and qualifications needed for pursuing a career with Intertek or a similar business in the future.

It was a truly rewarding day for all involved, and by participating we have helped to unlock new ambitions, as well as opening the door to new perspectives in our industry and beyond.
