Readying university students for employment

In September, Intertek Bangladesh hosted a university engagement session with final year students and faculty members from the Department of Textile Engineering at Southeast University in Dhaka.

During the session, our team led guided visits to our Intertek Dhaka laboratory, which specialises in softlines, analytical, and leather and footwear testing. Participants were given practical exposure to advanced testing methodologies, quality assurance systems and innovations supporting responsible and sustainable production within the textile and apparel sectors.

This was followed by an interactive discussion where our colleagues – many of whom are alumni of Southeast University – shared their professional journeys, offering career insights and mentorship to the students to help them to imagine their own paths forward.

To further enhance collaboration, Intertek Bangladesh signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Southeast University. The agreement aims to promote more expert lectures from Intertek colleagues, as well as corporate readiness initiatives, research collaboration and job placement opportunities for students.

Moving forward, this valuable partnership will continue to bridge the gap between education and industry in a country where the textile and apparel sectors are among the largest in the world.
